Hans Konrad Rahn

Hans Konrad Rahn was born in Antwerp in 1933 and moved to Zurich in 1940. When he assumed the helm of the company in 1974, he provided it with new structures, gearing it for the introduction, distribution and sales of technically high-quality chemical products and supplies. The company also supplied clinics with heart pacemakers, heart valves, stents and medicine dosing pumps. Under his leadership the company grew and was provided with a holding group structure that contained a company in Switzerland and two abroad. Hans Konrad Rahn also applied his talents to other enterprises a variety of sectors such as chemicals, watch manufacturing, watch sales, the art and antique trade and environmental analysis. He also was on the supervisory board of charitable institutions. The beneficiaries of his efforts included earthquake victims in Mexico whom he assisted with a rebuilding project. Hans Konrad Rahn launched the RAHN MUSIC PRIZE in 1976 to promote students at Swiss music colleges and conservatoriums. Among the positions he held were President of the Donors Association of the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich, Member of the Executive Board for the Swiss National Museum and he was also on the Zurich City Council in the 1980s. The Hans Konrad Rahn Foundation was founded on his 70th birthday. He retired from his positions at RAHN AG in 2000 and transferred the majority of shares to his daughter Ana Patricia Rahn in 2006
