Sustainability at RAHN
RAHN remains steadfast in its commitment to principles that emphasise responsibility toward people and the planet. Today, sustainability is not an aspiration but an integral part of our Group Strategy, supporting the way we innovate, operate, and grow.
We follow a non-dogmatic approach encompassing all aspects of sustainability. Our ambition is to foster economic progress while generating meaningful social and environmental impact. By combining customer focus, product innovation, and ethical business practices, we aim to strengthen resilience.
"As part of the third generation of family leadership and a mother of three, I see sustainability not only as a legacy to uphold but as a responsibility to advance – both within our company and as part of the global transition toward responsible and resilient business practices."
Ana Patricia Rahn Erden – Vice Chair of the Board of Directors
Achievements
Recent milestones include the publication of our first Supplier Code of Conduct, the launch of a comprehensive Supplier Risk Assessment, and the expansion of Product Carbon Footprint coverage to 70% of EnergyCuring and 43% of RAHN-Cosmetic Actives’ sales volumes. We introduced Product Water Footprints for RAHN-Cosmetic Actives and received an EcoVadis Gold medal in 2025.
Our Commitment
At RAHN, sustainability is pragmatic and impact driven. We follow internationally recognized ESG principles (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and maintain transparency through annual reporting and third-party sustainability ratings such as EcoVadis.
Governance is anchored at the highest level: the Board of Directors and Executive Management oversee our sustainability strategy, supported by a cross-functional steering committee.
Policies on environment, social responsibility, ethics, and procurement are embedded into daily operations.
RAHN’s socio-economic impact is assessed annually, goals are defined, actions implemented, and the result of such actions are measured and reported in a transparent manner.
RAHN aligns its reporting with leading global frameworks and standards. Our sustainability report is prepared with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, and we actively support the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
We aim to contribute to a more sustainable future and adapt to regulatory changes. Our efforts are driven by a firm belief in the transformative power of responsible business practices.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
We have identified 13 SDGs where we can make a direct contribution. From reducing emissions and promoting clean energy to fostering gender equality and decent work, these goals shape our initiatives and help us create shared value for society and the environment.

Our business units
EnergyCuring
Our EnergyCuring division is a premier worldwide supplier of additives, oligomers, monomers, photoinitiators and other customised specialty chemicals. Our products are used in ultraviolet and electron beam curing technologies and are essential components in high-performance inks, coatings, adhesives, medical products, rapid prototyping and other applications.
UV/EB curing is already recognised as a green technology and we at RAHN are proud in promoting UV/EB curing for over three decades. It offers significant CO2 savings, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our carbon footprint. Unlike conventional methods, EB/UV curing doesn't require large ovens or emit solvents needing further processing.
It uses a smaller physical footprint and 100% solid coatings, meaning less ink or coating is needed. UV LED technology in UV curing further reduces energy consumption, enhancing sustainability.
Cosmetics
Our Cosmetics division already has over 60 years of experience in supplying the cosmetic industry with specialties and additives. Thanks to the combination of constructive, long-term cooperation with selected suppliers and our own brand RAHN-Cosmetic Actives, we offer a modern and high-quality portfolio that represents real added value for our customers and their cosmetic products.
RAHN-Cosmetic Actives – Trust Your Actives
At RAHN-Cosmetic Actives, sustainability encompasses our beliefs, values and behaviours towards our activities that we want to continue into the future without compromising the planet, communities or ourselves.
These principles are woven into the DNA of our work philosophy and our inner attitude, fostering a world that follows the holistic concept of circular kindness.
Furthermore, we have developed a systematic framework across our innovation and supply chain. Our commitment to excellence at all levels of development is reflected in our holistic way of thinking, which seamlessly blends the power of nature with cutting-edge technology to create market-oriented, scientifically proven active concepts.

Our Suppliers – RAHN's Sustainable Partnerships
Sustainability is at the heart of RAHN’s partnerships. We proudly collaborate with leading cosmetics suppliers who share our values of environmental and social responsibility. These partners focus on developing sustainable raw materials, publish ESG reports, maintain EcoVadis ratings – several have achieved Gold and even Platinum status – and provide high-performance, trend-driven ingredients supported by expert technical guidance. Our close supplier relationships drive innovation.
A recent joint workshop in our application lab, for example, explored sustainable formulation concepts using life-cycle data and biodegradable ingredients. Together, we’re advancing lower-impact skin and hair care solutions, demonstrating how collaboration accelerates sustainability. RAHN remains committed to nurturing long-term partnerships that align with our sustainability goals.
