Discover the secret of dandruff reduction

PROTEOLEA® is a fine-tuned blend of multifunctional plant extracts resulting in an ideal dandruff-relief active ingredient. The olive leaf extract standardized with oleuropein combines its powerful antiitching, anti-inflammatory and skinprotecting properties with the skin infection preventive and revitalizing properties of the jujube extract. Levan obtained from sugar cane gives the product its final soothing and moisture providing touch for an alleviation of scalp discomfort.

Dandruff is a skin condition affecting the scalp and leading to flaking, itching, scratching, inflammation and irritation. Although dandruff affects approximately 50 % of the worldwide adult population, every gender and every corner of the world, those affected often feel like outsiders. Bad hygiene being wrongly linked to the condition, dark clothing covered in white flakes, an embarrassing but irresistible urge to scratch the scalp – all in all the social and psychological side-effects of dandruff are neither pleasant nor insignificant and can seriously knock one’s self-confidence [1, 2]. The evil responsible for this condition? Difficult to give a single certain answer, the etiology of dandruff is still highly disputed. Nevertheless, studies have shown three major causes with probable interdependency: Malassezia colonization, sebaceous gland activity and host predisposition.

Clinical studies have shown that PROTEOLEA® efficiently reduces dandruff flaking as well as associated symptoms such as scratching, itching, inflammation and irritation on both European and Indian cohorts. It further allows a reduction of scalp sebum. Previous studies (not shown here) determined the skin’s stress resistance amelioration, skin renewal improvement and proteasome activation.

An in-vitro study established the inhibitory effect of PROTEOLEA® on the Malassezia furfur yeast associated with dandruff. By targeting a combination of multiple factors involved in this scalp disorder, PROTEOLEA® allows a multi-level holistic approach to dandruff and its consequences, independently from the affected’s ethnicity.
